R&D Programs

The D2D CRC brings together researchers and industry, to tackle the Big Data challenges that face Australia's national security agencies.

The National Security Strategy for Australia highlights the importance of timely and accurate intelligence as a powerful weapon against national security threats. The D2D CRC will research and develop robust tools to enable Australia's defence and national security agencies to extract intelligence from "Big Data".

D2D CRC conducts its activities via four primary research and development programs.

Beat the News

The Beat the News™ program seeks to develop, integrate and evaluate technology that will automatically and accurately predict the occurrence of future population-level events such as social disruption, election outcomes and disease outbreak.

Apostle

The Apostle™ program seeks to develop, integrate and evaluate technology so that analysts can search and interrogate open source multimedia data (text, image, video) to quickly identify all relevant data and have it presented to the analyst.

Integrated Law Enforcement

The Integrated Law Enforcement program seeks to develop, integrate and evaluate technology that will provide police forces and analysts with uniform access to integrated information derived from diverse data sources held by different agencies.

Law & Policy

The Law & Policy program investigates the policy and legal framework that would balance societal and individual interests and enable appropriate implementation of the tools developed by the CRC.
